Review: Making Waves by Lorna Seilstad

null When Marguerite Westing’s father decides to take his family to Lake Manawa for the summer Marguerite is ecstatic. Marguerite is fun loving and a dreamer. She can’t wait to explore the sights and get away from Roger Gordon. Although Roger has been courting Marguerite she can’t seem to develope feelings for “boring” Roger. She need excitement. She needs strawberry sundaes while Roger is straight vanilla. Little does she know at first that he is also cruel and vindictive. Marguerite feels that no matter how hard she tries she could never love Roger. When she meets Trip Andrews she has not doubt Roger Isn’t the man for her because it’s Trip who has stolen her heart.

Trip Andrews can’t abide lying and doesn’t trust women. Growing up believing his mother abandoned him has hardened his heart and his resolve not to be hurt by a woman but when Marguerite worms her way into his heart he finds his resolve slipping.

When Marguerite’s father loses all of their money gambling she feels obligated to marry Roger and deny her heart’s desire. Will she be able to trust God enough to risk everything or will she continue lying to herself?

Amid the romance and drama going on in her life, Marguerite goes on a spiritual journey of trust. She goes from questioning God to fully trusting Him. I loved this story. It took me to a place I have never been In a romance book before. 1895, water carnivals, fireworks. I never knew those things existed in that time. You’ll love the adventure!

Review: The Inheritance by Tamera Alexander

null After the death of her father, McKenna Ashford left her hometown to make a new start for her and her brother Robert in Copper Creek. With Robert’s past haunting them, the last person she wanted to fall for was a U.S. Marshall.

Wyatt Caradon’s job was to hunt down criminals and when his job brought him to Copper Creek the last thing he thought he’d find was love. Something drew him to McKenna Ashford and he knew he wanted to pursue it.

Putting their faith in God, they start on a journey that leads them to an everlasting love for each other.

This was my first book by Tamera Alexander but it definitely won’t be my last. She writes with a talent not often seen. Her words flow gracefully and her story touches your emotions. A MUST read!

Review: Beauty For Ashes by Dorothy Love

null Carrie Daly, after losing her husband in the Civil War years earlier, is content with her life. She lives with her brother Henry and is being courted by local bookstore owner, Nate Chastain. She sees her future and, although it’s not exactly what she had in mind, she is satisfied with the road her life is taking… Until Griff Rutledge comes to town.

When Griff Rutledge came to the town of Hickory Ridge chasing down a woman who owed him a debt, it was supposed to be a quick trip. Collect what was owed him and head back home. When he rescued Carrie Daly from an oncoming horse and buggy his plans quickly changed. Was it love at first sight? Perhaps… but all Griff knew was he wanted to get to know Carrie better.

Carrie’s desire to spend time with Griff soons finds her throwing propriety aside. Will Griff win her heart or will Nate be the one she marries?

Dorothy Love never dissapoints. This is the second book in the Hickory Ridge novels and I am so looking forward to reading Sophie’s story next. If you love inspirational romance with heart-warming story you’ll love Beauty For Ashes.

Review: The Rancher Takes A Bride by Sylvia McDaniels

nullRose “Desiree'” Severin is a con artist who holds seances, claiming to talk to the dead. When Eugenia Burnett asks Rose to contact her missing son Tanner, who she hasn’t heard from in 10 years, her oldest son Travis is furious. He threatens to close down Rose’s business and have her thrown in jail if she doesn’t stay away from his mother. Travis has no idea his mother has matchmaking in mind.

Eugenia wants her sons to settle down and give her grandchildren. When she sees Rose she knows she is the perfect woman to turn Travis’ life upside down. When the sparks fly between them it only confirms her suspicions and she’ll go to any lengths to get them together, even tell a little white lie.

Rose falls helplessly in love with Travis but can Travis see how wrong he was about Rose and come to realize how much Rose means to him?

This is book one in the Burnett Brides series and it can be read as a stand-alone book but, honestly, why would you want to? The story of Travis just wet my appetite for the other Burnett brothers. This was a fantastic, well written story. I definitely recommend it. Now I’m off to buy the other two books!
